Borton-Lawson is seeking a Senior Electrical Designer to join our staff to assist in the design of projects in the Oil & Gas group.  This individual will be responsible for designing and drafting electrical tasks and working with Engineers, Technical Leaders and Designers.  Candidate should be a highly motivated individual, detail oriented, and must thrive on accepting responsibility and applying creativity. 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Specific design tasks include, but are not limited to:  branch circuit layout, panel scheduling, grounding plans, electrical area classification plans and power distribution design.  
  • Review sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from other team members.
  • Familiarity with latest NEC code.
  • Understanding of voltage drop calculations and cable sizing.
  • Ability to work independently on projects.
  • Design and lay-out engineering drawings performing drafting and design as needed.  May work directly with clients project team.
  • Has the ability to specify portions of the engineering systems based on past experience.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers regarding information needed for design. 

Required Experience

  • An Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 5 to 10 years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • AutoCAD experience is a must and Plant 3D experience is a plus.
  • Experience with ETAP and/or SKM Power Analysis Software is a plus but not required
